Additional management support in Social Work

The Highland Council has agreed to boost its management team in Social Work on a temporary basis to ensure robust implementation of the Service’s budget recovery plan and to progress the joint working with NHS Highland in relation to the transformational change required in Community Care (Getting it right for older people).

The Council has agreed to appoint a chief operating officer for six months. Those eligible to apply are the four Heads of Service in Social Work. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Social Work.

The post-holder will also cover for the Director of Social Work, while carrying out her duties as President of the Association of Directors of Social Work.

The budget recovery plan aims to tackle a projected overspend at the end of this financial year of £3.4 million.
