A Blast Of Brass For Highland Schools
This week hundreds of pupils across the Highlands will have the chance to take part in musical workshops led by Pure Brass, a quintet of talented students from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Dance.
Following the success of a visit to the Highlands last term, Pure Brass return to entertain with music from Star Wars, The Incredibles, and the rousing Olympic fanfare and to teach about the instruments they play, especially the trumpet, tuba, trombone and horn.
Pure Brass are a vibrant, young and well established brass quintet who in a relatively short period of time, have built up widespread experience, working extensively in recital, giving numerous educational concerts and performing at many prestigious events.
The Pure Brass Highland schools tour starts on Wednesday (9 September) with a visit to Grantown Primary School. The next day the quintet will be going to Dornoch Academy, Golspie Primary and Golspie High School and on Friday 11 they will be at Muirtown and Kinmylies primary schools in Inverness before meeting up with members of the Regional Music Groups for a rehearsal weekend at Millburn Academy.
Norman Bolton, The Highland Council’s Music Development Officer said: “We are delighted that Pure Brass are able to return to the Highlands and visit more of our schools as education is central to their work. Their talent and infectious enthusiasm provides a fun learning experience for all pupils and this will be a great opportunity for young people to find out more about music and the instruments they hear.”
