Highland Fencer Is British Male Junior Fencer Of The Year
Ed Jefferies from Munlochy and a former pupil of Fortrose Academy was awarded the title of Male Junior Fencer of the Year at the British Fencing AGM held in Telford on the 12th September.
This was in recognition of Ed winning the silver medal for Mens Foil at the Junior World Fencing Championships in Belfast which made him the first Junior British World Champion medal winner since 2002. Amongst Eds other successful results was his World Cup win in Poland which left him ranked second in the World at Junior level
Ed now moves onto the senior level ranked 3rd in the UK and with a world ranking of 75. During the first week of October he will represent Great Britain in Mens Foil as an individual and as the youngest member of the GB Team in the Senior World Championships in Turkey.
Ed, who is currently training in Russia, wishes to thank The Highland Council’s Black Isle Ward, the Duncraig Trust and O’Brien Properties for the support he receives.

It is an incredible achievement and reflects the hard work and dedication Ed gives his sport. We look forward to hearing more about his progress, especially with the build up to the 2012 Olympics.”
