Cadets to Beat the Retreat at Inverness
Inverness city centre will play host to the massed pipes and drums of the Army Cadet Force on Saturday 10 April to mark the 150th anniversary of the Army Cadet Force.
A total of 155 cadets from all over the UK, who are attending a training camp at the Cameron Barracks, Inverness, will gather at Stephen’s Brae at 7 pm and march to Falcon Square, where they will play for 30 minutes and Beat the Retreat.
The pipers, drummers and massed band members will then march up the High Street for a reception at the Town House.
Provost Jimmy Gray, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Inverness City Committee, who will take the salute in Falcon Square, said: “We are delighted to welcome cadets from all over the United Kingdom to Beat the Retreat in Inverness. This is the first time this has happened in Falcon Square. This will allow people to see the cadets as they celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Cadet Force in the UK.”
The cadets will Beat the Retreat in Dingwalll on Friday. The leave the Army Cadet Centre on Ferry Road at 2.30 pm to march along Dingwall High Street. They will mass outside the Royal British Legion where the salute will be taken by the Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Janet Bowen. The cadets will then entertain with a retreat programme.
