Highland 2007 Reception
Over 200 guests enjoyed a presentation by Alison Magee, Chair of Highland 2007, detailing the diversity of the Highland 2007 programme.
Alison Magee said: "Highland 2007 is a unique opportunity to raise the profile of the Highlands as a great place to live and to visit. A huge and exciting programme of events beginning on 1 January 2007 and going on right through the year will showcase the special nature of Highland culture past, present and future to audiences in the Highlands and beyond. From The World Championship Highland Games to a lone musician in Smoo Cave, The Highland Quest in collaboration with The Mackintosh Foundation to the 6 Cities Festival of Design, the events will attract a wide range of participants, spectators and media to the Highlands. Contrasting traditional and contemporary, combining the familiar with the new, and with events appealing to all ages, this is a huge opportunity for the Highlands."
Patricia Ferguson, Minister for Tourism Culture and Sport said: "Highland 2007 will be an excellent opportunity to showcase the very best of Highland culture, which is distinctive and vibrant.
"It will act as a clarion call to people from all over the world to visit the Highlands to take part in a celebration of the richness of Highland culture."
