Local communities in the spotlight at Ward Forum
The work of local communities will be the main focus of The Highland Council’s Cromarty Firth Ward Forum when it meets on Thursday 22nd April in the Alness Heritage Centre, High Street, Alness.
Digital UK have been invited to give the Forum information on preparations for the digital television switchover and how the Switchover Help Scheme will support viewers as they prepare for the biggest change to TV for a generation, which takes place in six months’ time.
The Forum will then take the form of an open discussion giving people the opportunity to discuss issues important to them. Community groups will be asked about their priorities, what their strengths and strong points are and also about the challenges they feel they face.
Forum Chair Councillor Rattray said: “All of our local communities have achieved a great deal in recent years, ranging from community woodland projects, to the provision of facilities for young people and of course wonderful flower displays. They all have a range of skills and experience and we hope that it will be very helpful to share information on these and also to talk through the local priorities.”
The Forum will start at 7.30pm with teas and coffees available from 7pm.
Ward Forums have been set up across the Highlands to enable the public to have their say in what's happening in their area. The forums meet regularly in public led by the Ward Elected Members in each area, assisted by the Ward Manager. Representatives of Community Councils and partner agencies, such as the police also attend the forums. Anyone with an enquiry about their Forum; would like to submit questions in advance of the meeting; or have any special requirements/needs to help them take part, can contact Helen Ross at the Invergordon Service Point or by phoning 01349 855524 or by emailing helen.ross@highland.gov.uk.
