The shifting sands of Culbin
Locals and visitors to Nairn are being invited to join Highland Council Countryside Rangers on a stroll among the Culbin sand dunes on Wednesday 11 August.
On the walk the rangers will explain how the dunes are formed, highlights some of the wildlife they provide a home to and explain some of the history that lies around and beneath them.
Countryside Ranger John Orr said: “Sand dunes and sand bars are major features of this part of the coastline and provide home to some interesting creatures. We’ll be discovering more about the hidden history of the area too from Neolithic times to the very recent past.”
Meet at the East Beach Car Park through Lochloy Caravan Park, Nairn at 2pm. The cost to participate is £3 adults/£2 children and the walk lasts approximately 2 hours.
The aim of the Highland Council Countryside Rangers is to promote public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and to conserve wildlife.
