Night walk in Farr
A night-time walk with Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers is on offer this Friday 13 August near Farr, Inverness.
Organised as part of The Highland Council’s Planning and Development Service Countryside ranger events programme the night walk will focus on wildlife that only comes out at night.
Participants will learn about bat conversations; how many midges a bat can eat in one night; and species of bat use the River Ness as a commuting route.
Katy Martin, Countryside Ranger said: “Just as we are settling down on the sofa or going to bed, is the time when nocturnal animals become active. This event is a lovely chance to explore the sights and sounds of the woodland and to try and spot some of the shy animals that live there.”
The evening will comprise of a short walk through woodlands on the banks of the River Nairn in Strathnairn. The event is suitable for children aged 8 years or over and they must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear warm clothing, and bring a torch and midge repellent. There is a charge of £3 adults and £2 children.
To book a place on the walk which lasts from 8pm –10pm; and to find out the meeting place, please telephone 01463 710786.
The aim of the Highland Council Countryside Rangers is to promote public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and to conserve wildlife.
