Highland libraries attract young people

The cards which have been offered to pupils at all secondary schools in the Highlands can be used as proof of age and identity, and already attract discounts in various shops and businesses around the Highlands.

Now, in addition, if High Life ~ Young Scot Card holders take their card along to their local Highland Library and have it activated as a library card they can rent the latest DVDs and Videos for the reduced price of 75p.

Borrowers can even place a reservation for a DVD or Video using the free 24/7 on-line library catalogue. An increasing number of secondary school pupils will also be able to use their High Life ~ Young Scot card to borrow from their school library.

Joyce Watson, Highland Council’s Library and Information Co-ordinator said: "Highland Libraries offer a huge range of books and information resources to suit all tastes as well as free access to the Internet and computer facilities. We’re hoping the new High Life ~ Young Scot Card discount scheme will attract many more young people into libraries."
