Inverness Winter Festival theme takes a page out of Lewis Carroll classic

The Highland Council has confirmed that a Halloween show called Malice in Wonderland will launch this year's Inverness Winter Festival.

Taking place on 29 and 30 October, the show will feature more than 100 performers and will take spectators on a magical journey around a 1,300m circuit around the city's Ness Islands.

Featuring performers from Eden Court Theatre and a light show organised by Evanton based Arts in Motion and the Highland Council’s lighting department, the event will give its own twist to Lewis Carroll's story Alice in Wonderland.

Characters appearing at the show will include the Queen of Tarts and the Mad Hatter's 8 feet tall Scottish mother, Mad Morag.

Last year's Halloween event, attracted thousands of locals with many wearing fancy dress.

Festival chairman Roy Pedersen said: "Demand for early information on the theme of this year’s show prompted us to announce some details. People want to get started on arranging their costumes for this year’s event.”

The Inverness Winter Festival runs from Halloween to Hogmanay.
