Housing Expo on course to meet 30,000 target of visitors

Scotland’s Housing Expo at Inverness is set to meet and possibly surpass the target of 30,000 visitors for the month-long event, which ends on Tuesday 31 August.

A bumper turn out is expected this weekend, which will add to the 25,000 visitors who have already come through the doors. Visitors are urged, if possible,  to travel by public transport to ease the expected congestion and organisers will do everything they can to accommodate visitors.

The most recent high profile visitor is Danny Alexander, MP for Inverness Nairn and Badenoch and Strathspey, and Chief Secretary to the Treasury, who called into the Expo earlier today (Friday).

He was shown around the complex at Braes of Balvonie, Inshes, by Councillor Ian Ross, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Planning Environment and Development Committee, and Stuart Black, Director of Planning and Development.

Councillor Ross said: “We are delighted with the public’s response to this national showcase of sustainable housing.  We are well on course to meet our target of attracting 30,000 people to the event and we expect a bumper attendance over the weekend and up until we close the doors on Tuesday evening.

“The Expo has been a very well worthwhile project, which has attracted a great deal of interest in sustainable housing and and stimulated really positive thinking about  the energy saving devises we will install in future house building. And of course it has provided a welcome boost to local businesses and a stimulating day out for the visitors.”
