Ward Forum throws light on Council Gritting
Tain and Easter Ross residents are invited to the last Ward Forum of 2010 being held next week (Wednesday 15 December) to hear about the Council’s response to the recent bad weather and its readiness for the remaining winter months.
Campbell Stewart, The Highland Council’s Area Roads and Community Works Manager, will be attending to explain the gritting and winter maintenance programme for the Ward and how the Council’s priority system targets roads based on their local importance.
Campbell Stewart said, “ The Highlands has the longest road network of any Council in Scotland so it is simply not possible to treat every road at the same time. To make the best use of resources available we have established a priority system which tells us which roads to tackle first and the best routes to take around the area.”
Andrew Matheson, The Highland Council’s Lighting Manager will also be at the Forum to speak about Street Lighting and discuss where a pilot in the Ward can be run to help reduce the costs of street lighting.
The Tain and Easter Ross Ward Forum is being held in the new Mercat Centre, Munro Crescent, Milton (next to the Primary School), on Wednesday 15th December from 7.30pm to 9.30pm with a 20-minute slot allocated at the end of the meeting for questions from the public. Teas and coffees, hosted by the Kilmuir and Logie Easter Community Council, will be available from 7pm to 7.30pm. A tour of the new Mercat Centre will be available at 7pm.
Every Community Council in the Tain and Easter Ross Ward and other representative community organisations are members of the Ward Forum and have the opportunity to feed the views of their community into the subjects being discussed.
