Users advised of day and community support service changes in Fort William

Users of day and community support services in the Fort William area are being advised of changes to service provision from the start of the new year.

The Angus Centre, which is a base of people with learning disabilities, is closing and from the week beginning 10 January, next year, service users will be moving to the Montrose Centre at Inverlochy.

Dementia day services provided at the Montrose Centre will close on Thursday 23 December and from Tuesday 4 January users will receive services from Invernevis House.

The changes are the result of a decision taken by The Highland Council’s Housing and Social Work Committee last month and also a considerable amount of work done by the four Ward 22 Councillors, the ward management team and Social Work staff.

A Council spokesman said: “We will ensure a smooth transition of services and will give families and users of both centres the opportunity to visit their new surroundings during the week prior to the move.”

The future of the Angus Centre has yet to be determined.
