Walk to beat the winter blues

The Highland Council’s Badenoch and Strathspey Rangers are inviting people to beat the winter blues and come and join them on an invigorating walk around Carrbridge next week.

On Wednesday (10 February) Ranger Saranne Bish will lead a two hour guided walk along the riverside path at Carrbridge and through Ellan Woods.

Saranne said: “It's fascinating to see what wildlife we can find in the woods even in this deep snow. Creatures leave all signs of clues for us to find. We may even get our first taste of spring by finding some snowdrops pushing up through the ground.  The ancient Celtic spring festival of Imbolc was on the 1st of February so the new season is on its way”

“Carrbridge is a lovely place to walk and we will cover various habitats on our wanderings. Anyone coming along should dress warmly and bring their enthusiasm.”

The guided walk will start at the Packhorse Bridge in the centre of the village opposite the village shop at 1pm and will last until 3pm.

This family friendly event is organised as part of The Highland Council’s Planning and Development Services countryside events programme and basic charges will apply. The Badenoch & Strathspey Rangers are part funded by the Cairngorm National Park.
