Youth Convener tours Highland secondary schools

Highland Youth Convener, Magnus Monahan, has begun his tour of Highland secondary schools to deliver a presentation about Highland Youth Voice, the youth parliament for the area, and his role as Youth Convener.

Magnus said:  “I think it’s really important that we raise the profile of Highland Youth Voice and let all young people know about the opportunities that are available to them. Working with the schools is a great way to do this and hopefully we will see the benefits when the elections take place after the summer holidays.”

He has already visited Charleston Academy, Inverness, Tain Royal Academy and Nairn Academy and he hopes to complete visits to all 29 secondary schools in the Highlands by the beginning of April.

Magnus added: “Some young people might consider Youth Voice quite boring and not for them so I try and get across that there can be plenty of good banter as well as it being an important way of young people getting their voices heard.”
