Highland Planning Review Body meets for first time

The Highland Planning Review Body will meet for the first time on Thursday.  The nine-member group of Highland Councillors has been established by The Highland Council in response to the Scottish Government’s commitment to encourage planning applications to be determined locally.

The Review Body will determine requests by applicants from throughout the Highlands to review those local scale applications that have been refused by officers of the planning authority; those not determined within two months of the date of submission or those approved by officers subject to conditions, which the applicant may find unnacceptable..

The Body is chaired by Councillor Ian Ross, Chairman of the Planning Environmental and Development Committee and the vice chairman is Councillor Isobel McCallum, Vice-Chairman of the PED Committee. Other members are: Isabelle Campbell; Richard Durham, Dave Fallows, Kenneth MacLeod, Audrey Sinclair, Maxine Smith and Hamish Wood. 

The first meeting will be held within the Council Chamber, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, on Thursday commencing at 10.30 am.

The Planning Review Body will determine appliocations that would formerly have been determined by Reporters employed by the Scottish Government and will complement the work of three Planning Application Committees which cover Caithness Sutherland and Easter Ross; Ross Skye and Lochaber and Inverness Nairn and Badenoch and Strathspey and the strategic Planning Environmental and Development Committee.
