USA trip opportunity for Inverness Highland Games’ spectators
The Inverness Highland Games is seen as the “perfect partner” for the world’s first feature length film, exclusively featuring user-generated video clips posted on YouTube.
Life In A Day will be a 90-minute film, the components of which are to be shot in a single day, by people from all over the world. That day is Saturday 24 July, which coincides with Inverness Highland Games.
Google and YouTube have teamed up with Hollywood film directors Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald to make this film.
Alec Medaney of Google recently wrote to Gerry Reynolds, Inverness Highland Games organiser, to encourage spectators attending the Inverness Highland Games and Armed Forces Day celebrations at the Northern Meeting Park to post their video clips on YouTube.
He said: “YouTube is the world’s largest repository of user-generated online video. We would love to receive some footage of your event, filmed on 24 July. We see the Highland Games as a perfect partner for our project. It will provide your local community with the chance to be part of this unique production. All video clips will be viewed and if yours is selected to be part of the film you will win a chance to attend the film premier at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, USA.
“We are also offering YouTube goodies for those committing to take part, and are open to offering other help with your event if there is anything you think we can help you with.”
