Flag Raising event and parade to mark Armed Forces Day in Badenoch and Strathspey.

The Highland Council and the Badenoch and Strathspey Branches of the Royal British Legion Scotland will pay tribute to Armed Forces and Veterans with a Flag raising ceremony and Parade on Monday 21 June 2010.

2010, commemorates 70 years since Dunkirk, Evacuees and the Battle of Britain, in addition to the recent past and current conflicts.

The venue of the event is the Gynack Memorial Gardens in Kingussie.

All Legion members, Service and ex Service personnel, schools and members of the public are invited to take part in the Parade which will assemble in the old putting green on Spey Street from 10am. The Parade will march behind the Badenoch and Strathspey Pipe Band into the Garden, where the Flag Raising will take place at 10:29am. The Parade will then march past the War Memorial where the Salute will be taken.

Afterwards, there will be an exhibition and refreshments served in the Duke of Gordon Hotel and guests will be entertained with songs from children at Newtonmore Primary School.
