Highland representative elected president of SSFA

Rod Houston, Development Manager of the Highland Football Academy and former Depute Rector at Golspie HS, has been elected President of the Scottish Schools’ Football Association.  His unanimous election to a two-year term of office took place at the Association’s Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh.

Rod has been involved in schools football for 35 years, undertaking a wide range of tasks. As well as contributing to the administration of the game, he has coached teams at all levels from school through to national selects.  His most recent involvement was coaching this season’s Scottish Schools U18 select which took part in the Home Internationals tournament for the SAFIB Centenary Shield.

In accepting the presidency, Rod said: “I am humbled by receiving such an honour.  I am committed to continuing the work to ensure that the Association provides footballing opportunities for as many young people as possible and to sustaining the Association as a robust organisation.”
