Essential repairs means partial closure of Harbour Road, Inverness
Between Monday 15 March and Friday 26 March,The Highland Council intends to carry out footpath works, plus other essential maintenance, on Harbour Road, Inverness, between Raigmore (Millburn) Level Crossing and the Mill Burn. To allow the work to proceed safely and as quickly as possible, it is necessary to close the affected section of Harbour Road to vehicular traffic between 7.00am and 7.00pm. The road will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists throughout.
It is the Council’s intention to complete the works in as short a timescale as possible and weekend work will be included. The road will be fully re-opened at an earlier date if possible.
The existing width restrictions mean that it is not possible to create a footway underneath the railway bridge itself, but footways will be constructed leading up to all four abutment corners. Also, the proximity of the level crossing imposes a number of restrictions on the work; ruling out, for example, options which include traffic signals.
During the work temporary traffic management, including a full diversion will be put in place. Access to premises on Harbour Road will be possible at all times via the A82 / Longman Road. It is not the Council’s responsibility to sign directions to specific business premises.
