Head Teacher appointed
A permanent Head Teacher has been appointed for Scoraig Primary. She is Alison Barr who has been the Acting Head of the School since the beginning of December 2009.
Alison has worked as a class teacher at a variety of schools in Highland in recent years although prior to that she was Head Teacher of Iona Primary in Argyll and Bute. She also has experience of teaching in Australia through a one year exchange, and of working as a teacher of business English in France.
She said: “I am very pleased to be moving to Scoraig permanently. I look forward to being a part of the community and working alongside enthusiastic staff, parents and children. We all have exciting times ahead.”
Chairman of The Highland Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee, Councillor Bill Fernie said: “We are delighted to have appointed Alison Barr who has been covering the post. I am sure that parents and pupils of the school will welcome the stability of permanent leadership.”
Parent Council Chair, Pat Sherrington said: “The Parent Council are delighted that Alison Barr has been appointed as Head Teacher of Scoraig 3-14 School. During her short time as Acting Head she has already won the respect and liking of the staff and pupils. We look forward to working with Alison to ensure the provision of high quality education at Scoraig School.”
The school which has 9 pupils is located on the Scoraig peninsula south of Ullapool between Little Loch Broom (to the south) and Loch Broom (to the north).
