Last minute call for Easter Ross groups to hear about money saving ideas

Volunteers involved in running community buildings from the Dornoch to Cromarty Bridges still have time to sign up for an Energy Efficiency Seminar running next week (Thursday 13 May) to help them find out how they can make huge savings on their energy bills.                                                                                                     

The Highland Council Tain and Easter Ross and Cromarty Firth Wards, in partnership with Community Energy Scotland; Ross-shire Voluntary Action; and The Highland LEADER 2007-2013 Programme are running an evening seminar on Thursday 13 May for volunteers to find out more.

The seminar will advise groups how they can go about applying to the Scottish Government’s CARES programme, delivered by Community Energy Scotland, which provides grant of up to 100% for insulation, draft-proofing and energy efficient lighting in community buildings which could drastically reduce energy bills for community run facilities.

CARES grants of 30 – 90% are also available to groups for renewable energy systems.  Groups can also find out about possible match funding from the Highland LEADER 2007-2013 Programme at the event.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from Les Robinson of the Findon Hall Committee which has already made savings and improvements to the Culbokie hall through the grant schemes.
