Council to recognise achievements of Highland football teams
Highland Councillors will be asked at their next meeting on Thursday (13 May) to recognise the achievements of the two Highland Scottish league sides – Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County.
A motion being presented by Convener Sandy Park, Leader of the Administration, Michael Foxley, and Provost Jimmy Gray, Chairman of the Council’s Inverness City Committee, calls on the Council to congratulate Inverness Caledonian Thistle for winning the Scottish First Division in such convincing style and Ross County for their remarkable journey to the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden on Saturday, 15 May.
It asks the Council to provide civic recognition to both clubs for their achievements and the credit they have brought to their communities and to the wider Highlands.
The motion ends: “The Highland Council extends best wishes to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Premier League next season and to Ross County for a return from Hampden with the Scottish Cup!”
Councillor Park said: “This motion is a way of highlighting our pride in the achievements of our two Scottish league sides. For Inverness Caledonian Thistle to bounce back into the Premier League at the first time of asking and Ross County to reach the Scottish Cup final is just great for the Highlands and well worthy of civic recognition.”
