Dingwall High Street traffic plea
With the Dingwall Streetscape upgrade scheme now completed, drivers are being asked to ensure that they are aware of the ‘do’s and don’ts’ of the Dingwall Traffic Order.
In summary, there is no right turn onto the High Street and there should be no traffic on the High Street Pedestrianised Zone at any time apart from residents accessing their homes and for loading and unloading for shop deliveries before 11.00 am and after 3.00 pm.
Chief Inspector Mike Coats said: “Many people think that the Order is only in force during the day and not in the evening. This is not the case and drivers are asked to note that the Traffic Order is in force at all times. Over the next two weeks the Traffic Warden and Police will be on the street giving advice and assistance to motorists on the Traffic Order, however after this period enforcement action will be taken if the Order is not being observed.”
The High Street Pedestrianised Zone has been finished in high quality Caithness stone and motorists are advised that this is not designed for parking. Proper parking places have been created for those with need and to enable deliveries to take place. There should be no parking on the slabbed areas at any time. There is ample convenient free parking close to the High Street.
Helping Dingwall in Bloom and the Dingwall Rotary Club position new planters on the High Street on Monday, Dingwall and Seaforth Councillors Margaret Paterson and Angela MacLean both said that they were heartened by the new civic pride in the town and asked everyone to take part in looking after it.
Leaflets giving a summary of the Traffic Order are available from the Dingwall Service Point.
