Travelling Gallery returns to Highland schools

A Travelling Gallery exhibition “KLOOK-KLOOK” is returning to the Highlands for a two week tour of Highland schools.

The Travelling Gallery is a purpose-built, mobile art gallery that looks like a double decker bus and visits schools to provide pupils a unique opportunity to see contemporary art works within the school grounds.

The Spring 2010 Travelling Gallery exhibition will include a group of artists using sculpture, photography, drawing, painting, installation, print and film to create works exploring the human/animal interaction in art.  The artworks selected make explorations into mythology, rituals, evolution and ecology and combine vivid imagination with humour and technical skill.

Councillor Bill Fernie, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee said: “This is a great opportunity for our pupils to see art on their own doorsteps. We welcome the funding received from the Scottish Arts Council that has enabled this visit from the Travelling Gallery to the Highlands.”

The exhibiting artists are: Charles Avery, Bestué/Vives, Tania Kovats, Ashley Nieuwenhuizen, Andrea Roe, Edward Summerton, and Kirsty Whiten.
