Dingwall pupils wave off Ross County

More than 600 pupils of Dingwall Academy and Dingwall Primary, wearing their Ross County strips,  will be out in force at lunch time tomorrow (Friday), to wave off the Ross County bus at the start of its journey to Hampden for the Scottish Cup Final against Dundee United.

Staff and pupils have been given special permission to wear Ross County colours for the day – in exchange for contributing £1 to charity.

Meanwhile, Highland Councillors have agreed to organise civic receptions to recognise the achievements of the two Highland Scottish league sides – Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County.

They unanimously agreed a motion proposed by Convener Sandy Park, Leader of the Administration, Michael Foxley and Provost Jimmy Gray, Chairman of the Council’s Inverness City Committee, congratulating Inverness Caledonian Thistle for winning the Scottish First Division and Ross County for reaching the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden on Saturday (15 May).

Provost Jimmy Gray, Chairman of the Inverness City Committee, said: “We all feel great pride in the achievements of our two Highland Scottish League sides.  For Inverness Caledonian Thistle to bounce back into the Premier League at the first time of asking and Ross County to reach the Scottish Cup final is absolutely marvellous and well worthy of civic recognition.”

Councillor Margaret Paterson, Dingwall and Seaforth, said: “Win or lose, Ross County have made us all very proud.  If they come home with the cup, I will be the proudest person in Dingwall.”
