Whiteness Head walk with Council Ranger
Highland Council Countryside Ranger John Orr is leading a guided walk to Whiteness Head on Sunday 23rd May, 11am to 3pm.
The 5 mile/8km walk, winds it way through farmland, salt marsh and gravel ridges to the remote spit which juts out into the Moray Firth.
John Orr said: “This will be the fourth time we’ve run this walk and every year’s been different. There’s a good chance of seeing a variety of wildlife including seals hauling out opposite the spit and lots of birdlife including terns, godwits and other coastal species.”
The walk takes place from 11am – 3pm. Meet at Hilton of Denies farm, off the B9092 – Ardersier to Nairn road. Grid reference NH 845564. Please bring walking boots, waterproofs and some lunch. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information phone the rangers on 01463 702932
The aim of the Highland Council Countryside Rangers is to promote public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and to conserve wildlife.
