Charleston Fusion Nights to start this weekend
On Saturday (27 November), the Charleston Community Campus will open for the first time on a Saturday evening exclusively for young people.
From 7.30pm to 9.30pm there will be a variety of activities for young people to get involved in, including a mobile climbing wall provided by Great Glen Adventures, as well as the opportunity to relax with friends, watch TV or play the Wii.
Participants can also get creative with the help of local visual artist Mike Webster. For those wishing to burn up some energy the Highland Rugby Football club will be delivering street rugby sessions and The Highland Football Academy all weather park will be open for football with indoor badminton, basketball and softball sessions also available.
The café will also be open and will be serving hot and cold snacks, perfect for a cold winter night.
Youth Development Worker Nicola Rasdale said: “The Highland Council and local providers are working in partnership to provide fun, interesting and educational activities for young people. These ‘Fusion’ nights have been a great success in other areas of the Highlands and we believe Charleston will benefit greatly from these events.”
Nick Gamble, Facilities Manager at Charleston Academy Community Campus added: “Young people in Charleston have a lot to offer the community. These sessions are planned in the hope that they will give the young people of Charleston and outlying areas the chance to demonstrate their skills and potential as well as giving them a safe and friendly environment to get together with their friends.”
