Young Highland musicians shine on stage.

With concerts on Saturday afternoon and evening, the talented performers entertained the audiences and received a rousing reception.

The afternoon showcase concert featured  the Highland Regional Youth Orchestra, the Highland Youth Pipe Band, Còisir G and the Highland Youth Big Band.

The Highland Schools Wind Band, the Highland Youth String Orchestra, Highland Youth Pipe Band, `snas and the Highland Youth Choir performed in the evening, providing a wide repertoire of music and song for the audience to enjoy.

Highland Council Convener, Councillor Sandy Park joined in the applause.  He said:  “It really was a terrific showcase and I am very impressed with the talent and confidence of the young performers.  This years event had the added bonus of the new Highland choir and for their debut they really excelled themselves.  Everyone taking part and all their tutors deserve an enormous amount of credit for their hard work and dedication.  It really was wonderful entertainment.”

The eight Highland Regional Music Groups are organised and run by The Highland Council as an extension to the work of the Instrumental Tuition Service in Highland.  Membership for all groups is by invitation after an Audition Day held in May each year.  Some of the musicians are also members of national instrumental ensembles.
