Badenoch and Strathspey Ward Forum looks at winter preparation
The focus of the next meeting of The Highland Council’s Badenoch and Strathspey Ward Forum will be “Getting Ready for Winter”.
The meeting will take place at Grantown Grammar School on Wednesday 27 October, beginning at 7.00 pm.
A tour of the school, which has recently benefited from a major extension, as well as the new climbing wall in the Craig Maclean Sports Centre is planned before the meeting ie from 6.20 pm.
In the chair will be Councillor Jaci Douglas, Grantown.
Council managers across Services and other key agencies - Northern Constabulary, Cairngorms Mountain Limited and Scotland Transerv - will be attending the meeting to talk about what improvements have taken place since a previous ward forum on Snow Clearance on 26 May, and discussions will include a key element re communities – and particularly what they need to know. I.e. getting hold of winter tyres, clearing pavements, how to access salt, driving in the snow etc.
One of the new moves that has been introduced as a result of public feedback from the previous ward forum is a joint operational pre-meeting with key agencies in Badenoch and Strathspey to discuss preparation for winter months.
