Inverness shoppers advised of city centre footway maintenance
Work resurfacing the footway outside Marks and Spencer on Academy Street, Inverness, is planned to start on Monday (1 November) and there will be unavoidable disruption to the bus stop and taxi rank there. The contractor, Pat Munro (Alness) Ltd., will be lifting the footway slabs and re-laying an asphalt surface.
There is further essential footway maintenance to be carried out on the Academy Street footway, over a short length outside the ‘Filling Station’, which will affect taxis only. All work in the area should be completed within the week.
A spokesman for the Council said: “The unstable and broken slabs on these busy sections of footway have been the cause of concern in recent years and repeat visits by Council maintenance staff are regularly needed to address trip hazards as they develop.”
Taxi organisations and the Council’s Public Transport Unit have been informed.
