Rogie Falls footbridge now open
The Highland Council and Forestry Commission Scotland are pleased to announce that the Rogie Falls footbridge near Contin has re-opened.
The footbridge has been closed for public safety since March 21st as a large block of rock had recently dislodged and was resting against the main stay cable support columns of the footbridge. Specialist work to remove the rock was completed last week and engineers have advised that the bridge is now safe for use, but subject to a maximum of five people at any one time. This restriction may be removed following further inspection later in April.
The footbridge is located two miles to the west of Contin and is accessed mainly from the Forestry Commission car park on the A835. The bridge provides views of the Rogie Falls and access for walkers across the River Blackwater and the area is popular with both visitors and locals.
The forest area is owned and managed by the Forestry Commission Scotland, while the bridge is the responsibility of The Highland Council.
