Date set for Inverness flooding meeting
The Highland Council has fixed a date for the public meeting it promised to hold as a result of the flooding which affected areas in Smithton, Culloden and Balloch over the weekend of 16/17 July.
The meeting will be held at Culloden Academy, Inverness, on Thursday 18 August, starting at 7.30 pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the causes of the recent flooding event, and to give those affected the opportunity to find out what the Council proposes to do in relation to reducing the risk of flooding in the areas affected.
Provost Jimmy Gray, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Inverness City Committee, who will chair the meeting, said: “Over the past few weeks, our officials have been visiting those residents directly affected by the torrential rain that fell over the weekend of 16/17 July.
“We thank residents for the time they were prepared to set aside to tell us of their experiences, which I appreciate were distressing. This will give us a clearer picture of the action needed to reduce the risk of future flooding.
“The public meeting gives us the chance to listen to further comments from the public and agree a way forward.”
