New Conon Bridge/Maryburgh Primary School is named.

The name of the new amalgamated school to replace the existing Conon Bridge and Maryburgh Primary Schools will be “Ben Wyvis Primary School”.

Members of The Highland Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee have agreed to the most popular name suggested for the new school by pupils, staff, parents and community members in Maryburgh and Conon Bridge.

The proposed name “Ben Wyvis Primary School” was presented to councillors as the most favoured suggested from the results of a local consultation.

Ben Wyvis Primary School will comprise 10 classrooms when it opens in August 2012 as well as: a nursery and wrap-around childcare facilities;  2-court sports hall with changing rooms; kitchen and dining facilities; school library; community room and kitchen; and floodlit multi-use games area.
