Tribute to Caithness teacher

Rector of Wick High School, Mr Thomas McIntyre has paid tribute to Dr Kevin Costello, Principal Teacher of Science at Wick High School who died in a road traffic accident yesterday evening. 

He said:  “The whole school community is stunned by the news.  Kevin was highly respected and popular among colleagues and friends.  He was an inspirational teacher who was highly thought of by his pupils.  He will be greatly missed.  Our thoughts and sympathy are with Kevin’s family. 

“Our thoughts are also with Liz Wheeler, Science Teacher at Wick High School  who was injured in the same accident.”

Speaking on behalf of The Highland Council, Chairman of the Education, Culture and Sport Committee, Councillor Bill Fernie said:  “We are shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss.  Our sincere condolences are with Dr Costello’s family and friends as well as his colleagues and all the pupils at Wick High School.”
