Chance to go “batty” in Nairn

On Friday 26th August there is a chance to join The Highland Council Countryside Rangers for an evening bat walk to discover more about the bats found living in Nairn.

Did you know that some species of bat use Viewfield Park as a place to live and find food route? Have you ever heard a bat conversation? Do know just how many midges a bat can eat in one night? If the answer is no then, why don’t you come along and find out more.
 
John Orr, Countryside ranger for Inverness East & Nairn said: “Viewfield Park in Nairn provides lots of places for bats to hang out such as old trees and buildings as well as having a good source of night flying insects for them to feed on so hopefully we should be able to spot a few bats on their nightly rounds.”
 
The evening, which runs from 8pm - 10pm, will start with a short talk at Nairn Community Centre followed by a walk around the nearby Viewfield Park. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult and anyone coming along should wear warm clothing.
