Day Care in Fort William

Day care provision for clients with dementia in the Fort William area is being switched from the Caol Community Centre to the Montrose Centre, with effect from Monday (21 August).
 
The Lochaber Area Committee of The Highland Council has agreed that the move will provide users with a more suitable environment that better meets their needs.

Ian McFadyen, Lochaber Area Community Care Manager, said: “Currently in Lochaber the day care provision to clients with dementia is the least resourced yet is predicted to have the greatest increase in demand for services. With this in mind it has been decided that the current service provision will move from Caol Community Centre to the Montrose Centre. This will provide the users with a more suitable environment to meet their needs and has room for expansion as demand increases.”
 
He said that from Monday (21 August) current users of the Montrose Centre will transfer to the Angus Centre where he says they will have increased opportunities to participate in the community.
 
He added: “The current users of the Angus Centre receive their services in the community using the centre as a hub. There is ample space for both groups to use the centre independently of each other. This will provide savings through economies of scale and the more efficient use of the resources available whilst maintaining services at their current level.”
