High Life Scheme Extended
The popular High Life Leisure Scheme, which provides low cost access to leisure facilities in the Highlands for regular users, is to be extended to users of Inverness Leisure; Culloden Academy Community Complex, Inverness and Lochaber Leisure Centre, Fort William.
And talks are being held with the management committee of Lochalsh Leisure Centre, Kyle, to establish if they are ready to join.
If all goes well, the facilities will all be "on stream" by April 2007.
Since being introduced in 2001, High Life has been a huge success, increasing usage of leisure facilities by 43% and increasing income by 67%.
“These are remarkable and unusually positive figures,” said Councillor Andy Anderson, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Education Culture and Sport Committee, “and we are delighted to extend the scheme to these independently run facilities.”
Benefits of the High Life Leisure Scheme include family tickets of £19.99 per month or £14.49 for individuals. For those on Income Support, Pension Guarantee Credit, Jobseekers Allowance, Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance a charge of only 50p per activity is made.
