Ruby Downie and Amy McCann from Nairn Academy are winners of the North of Scotland Schools’ Debating Competition which took place at Charleston Academy recently. They gave a strong performance when they debated the motion 'This House would welcome a fully independent Scotland'. They competed against 5 other teams from across Highland, Moray, Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire area.
Ruby also won the Best Speaker trophy.
The pupils were coached by John Chalmers. This victory is on the back of our success in 2009 when Harriet Key and Rachel Fairley won the title.
