Invergordon gets in the Christmas mood
Invergordon is now ready for Christmas with the arrival and installation of new Christmas lights. The four elected Councillors representing the Cromarty Firth Ward welcomed the installation of the lights, noting that the project had been by a truly combined effort supported by volunteers, local businesses together with local Councillors and Highland Council staff.
Councillor Maxine Smith said: “We are so pleased to have the new lights in place and I would like to thank all the funders, including Global Energy for their generous donation, the Invergordon Common Good Fund, the Beinn Tharsuinn Wind Farm fund as well as the Council’s Ward Discretionary Budget and the firemen plus volunteers who helped to put the lights up.”
Councillor Martin Rattray added: “Lots of folk have worked hard to achieve this but special thanks must go to Una McIntosh as former chair of the Invergordon and District Initiative for all the work she put in, as the IDI led the consultation to find out what sort of lights most people preferred and sought the funding for the new lights."
