More Fusion fun at Dingwall

Saturday 19 February will see the return on the Fusion project for young people aged 12-19 at Dingwall Leisure Centre.  Fusion, which is run by The Highland Council’s Youth Development team, aims to provide young people with the opportunity to increase their skills and wellbeing by taking part in a range of fun and active sessions.  Fusion also provides a safe environment for young people to meet and hang out with their peers.

Over the course of the evening, which rums from 6pm to 10pm,  there will be a range of activities to take part in, which include; fitness suite, body combat, swimming, football, baking and nail art.   Brook Highland will also be at Fusion to ensure young people know about the service and to provide confidential advice and information.

The youth development team has also invited Arts Worker Clair Nicol along to run a graffiti art session.  Clair is busy planning for the session.  She said:  “We will be working with young people to create canvasses with grafitti style tags and character designs. The style will be contemporary and relevant and will give us the opportunity to discuss appropriate design ideas and placement of this style of work.  It is important for young people to be given a safe environment where they can express themselves creatively, and be able to learn new skills. We want to support young people to create relevant and positive art works and celebrate their achievements through an exhibition of their work.”

The last Fusion event in the Dingwall Leisure Centre held on January 18th attracted 87 young people who all participated in various activities.    Highland Council’s Youth Development Officer, Fiona Richardson said:  “We hope to see more young people this weekend at Fusion.  There will be lots of different fun activities available – come along with your friends to try these out.”

Transport to Dingwall Leisure Centre is available from the outlying towns and villages.  To book a place on the bus or for more information on Fusion please contact Fiona on 07879 456798.
