Woodland explorations with Countryside Rangers
For families on holiday in Inverness, Drumnadrochit and Carrbridge areas, Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers have organised three fun events at local woodlands on Tuesday 12 to Thursday 14 July.
Aimed specifically for young children’s entertainment, the activities will be themed around favourite characters from books and TV.
On Tuesday 12 July from 2pm to 3:30pm a Winnie the Pooh event has been organised at School Wood, Farr, south of Inverness. Participants can join in the fun and games in the woods, themed around the Winnie the Pooh books. Meet at School Wood car park, Farr.
A “Where the Wild Things Are” event will also take place at The Cover Woods, Drumnadrochit on Wednesday 13 July from 1:30pm to 3pm.
Katy Martin, Highland Council Council’s Senior Ranger for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey said: “Who is the wildest of wild things? This will be a great adventure for young children and their families based around Maurice Sendack’s beautiful book. Meet at the Cover car park, Drumnadrochit.”
On Thursday 14 July from 2pm to 3:30pm the theme of the event at Ellan Wood, Carrbridge will be the TV programme “In the Night Garden”.
Katy explains: “Oh no, the Pontipine children are lost! Join them on an adventure through the Night Garden meeting friends along the way. Meet at the main Ellan Wood car park.”
She adds: “These events are great fun and a chance for families to get out and explore woodland nearby. They are self-led so you can participate at your own pace.”
These events are suitable for families with young children. Cost £3 per child. There is no need to book and participants can just turn up and take part. For more information please call: 01463 710786.
