New head teacher for Balloch Primary School

The new head teacher of Balloch Primary School will be Mrs Karen Ross when she takes up appointment in August 2011.

Mrs Ross started her teaching career in Rosebank Primary School, Nairn before moving to Muirtown Primary School, Inverness in 1994 as Assistant Head Teacher.
Over recent years she has had a number of acting head teacher roles as well as holding the post of Highland Council’s Curriculum for Excellence Numeracy Development Officer.

Chairman of The Highland Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee Councillor Bill Fernie said: “I am certain that Karen Ross will continue to foster the excellent provision of education at Balloch Primary School and her recent experiences in Curriculum for Excellence development will provide additional new support to the school’s future development.”

 Mrs Ross said: “I am looking forward to working closely with pupils, staff and parents of Balloch Primary School and building on the very good practice which already exists in the school.”

Karen Ross will replace the current head teacher of Balloch Primary, Christine Scott who retires at the end of this term after 17 years of service at Balloch.
