Butterfly walk at Nairn east beach

Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers are inviting people to join them for a walk on the popular east beach at Nairn to look for butterflies.

Explore the upper shore with John Orr Highland Council’s Inverness East and Nairn Countryside Ranger as he seeks out these creatures and the food plants that that they rely on. The walk takes place on Sunday 12 June from 2 - 3:30pm.

John said: “The dunes around Nairn east beach are the perfect place to see butterflies, one of our most colourful and attractive types of insect.

“We will be exploring the dune habitat close up to see what signs of butterflies we can spot as well as finding out more about their lifecycles and what we can do to help to protect them for the future.”

Anyone interested in joining John on the walk should meet at east beach car park, through Loch Loy caravan park, Nairn (grid reference NH 896 576). There is a small fee for participation. Contact John Orr on tel: 01463 710786 for further information.
