Summer programme at Inverness Leisure is “SO” good

Issued by Inverness Leisure

Having just gone through a full re-branding exercise, the new “SO” Summer 2011 programme at Inverness Leisure has been launched this week offering loads of free access and discounted rates on activities for those who get in early.

Speaking about the release of the new programme, Eilidh Maclean, Inverness Leisure’s acting Activities Development Officer said, “All of our school holiday and after-school activities were simply referred to as our “Kidz” activities.  Our General Manager felt the brand had had its day and was now dated, so he asked me to look at a full revamp of the out of school programmes.

“We are therefore really excited to launch our ‘SO’ Summer 2011 programme.

The ‘SO’ stands for ‘Schools Out’ and people will start to see it phased in for all our out of school activities – obviously starting this summer.  From discussions, we feel the new brand will appeal to everyone who is on holiday whether you are in primary 1 or fifth year in secondary school.

Eilidh Maclean went on to explain, “This year we are offering more activities that we have before with some great discounts for individuals and families.

“When we reviewed the programme, we realised that our summer pricing programme had at times been complicated for parents to understand because we were charging different prices for different activities. So this year, we have a “one price fits all” approach to the many classes being offered over the whole summer holidays.

“Parents can register their children into these our classes for £20 for the full week which we think is great value for money.  However, taking into account some families have more than 1 child, we have introduced an additional ‘supermarket style’ buy 2 get another 1 completely free of charge.

“So to give some examples, children can learn new skills such as how to climb, swim loads of different strokes, dive and even take part in the nationally recognised Rookie Lifeguard qualification over the course of a week during their summer holidays.

“However, one of the things we have noticed is that while some families look for week-long activities others want to just pop in and out depending on the weather or what their other commitments are. So we have introduced a large number of classes which are completely “drop in” and offered totally free to High Life all-inclusive card holders.

Summing up the acting Manager said, “I am really SO excited about the programme and initial feedback from customers since we launched the activities this week has been really, really positive.  All I would do is advise customers not to leave it until the last minute as places will fill up very quickly.”

Speaking about the new ‘SO’ summer programme, General Manager James Martin commented on a slightly different perspective on the multi-award winning centre’s summer activities, “The ‘SO’ programme is looking really great however a really great by-product is the fact that through our programme we are able to offer employment opportunities and maintain our teaching and coaching pool of staff throughout the summer.

“I think it is really important that although the ‘SO’ Summer programme is heavily discounted and even free for some activities we do all we can to offer the many instructors and coaches associated with Inverness Leisure a level of stability throughout the summer.

“We are extremely proud of our team and invest in ensuring that a quality Inverness Leisure product is offered to our many customers, so I think it is great that we are able to hang on to these staff throughout the 6 weeks of the summer season.”
