New Chairman of Audit and Scrutiny Committee

The new Chairman of The Highland Council’s Audit and Scrutiny Committee is Councillor David Fallows (Scottish National Party).

He replaces Councillor Jean Urquhart (SNP), who has resigned in light of her recent election as a member of the Scottish Parliament and her associated workload.

The Committee, which meets four times each year, scrutinises the work of the Council and reports directly to the Council.

Meanwhile, the membership of the Council has altered with the election of Mrs Fiona Robertson (Independent) for Tain and Easter Ross.

It is:  Independent 25, Liberal Democrat 20, SNP 18, Labour 7, Independent Members’ Group 6, Independent Alliance Group 4.
