New head teacher for Inshes Primary School
The new head teacher of Inshes Primary School is Mr Richard Syred, who, since October last year, has been the acting head teacher at the 437-pupil school.
Mr Syred moved to the Highlands in December 2004 to work at Drakies Primary School. He previously worked at three different comprehensive schools in the London area finishing as Head of a large 6th Form at Ravens Wood School in Bromley Kent.
Chairman of The Highland Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee, Councillor Bill Fernie said: “I am very pleased to see this appointment of Mr Syred who I am confident has the skills to deal with the challenges of the significant transfer of pupils from Inshes to Milton of Leys.
“As acting head teacher Mr Syred is already aware of the changes that are facing the community and I fully support the staff and parents as we move through this transitional period.”
He takes up his post immediately.
Mr Syred has been acting head teacher since the death of the school’s former head teacher Mrs Ishbel Gilroy, who died in October 2010.
