Temporary closure of Rogie Falls footbridge, Contin

The Highland Council and Forestry Commission Scotland are notifying members of the public that Rogie Falls footbridge near Contin has been temporarily closed until further notice.

The footbridge has been closed for public safety as a large block of rock has recently dislodged and is currently resting against the main stay cable support columns of the footbridge.

Following advice from professional engineers, the bridge has been closed to the public and will remain closed, until further notice, while loose rock is removed and the safety of the bridge is further assessed.

The footbridge is located two miles to the west of Contin and is accessed mainly from the Forestry Commission car park on the A835. The bridge provides views of the Rogie Falls and access for walkers across the River Blackwater and the area is popular with both visitors and locals.

The forest area is owned and managed by the Forestry Commission Scotland, while the bridge is the responsibility of The Highland Council.
