Brush up on General Wade’s military road
The Highland Council began work this week on cutting back shrubs and branches from a popular path on the south side of Inverness.
General Wade’s Military Road, which takes people from Milton of Leys to Daviot, Tom Fat Woods and Moy, is popular with walkers and cyclists.
Contracted by the Council, Andrew Coleman of Highland Conservation Services is doing the work using a forestry mower.
Warning signs are erected in the area notifying people that the works are taking place, however in the interests of safety; the Council is asking walkers and cyclists not to pass the machine until the contractor indicates it is safe to.
The project is being funded by The Highland Council’s Inverness South Ward discretionary budget.
Ward manager Jimmy Flint said: “Over the years we have had quite a few complaints about the gorse and broom closing in on the path. We hope to cut as far as the first path into Daviot Wood by the end of next week and would like to make more improvements later in the year.”
