Flood Update Noon
Kingussie:
Council staff continue to clean up after the damage caused by flooding of the Gynack Burn in Kingussie yesterday (Wednesday).
Kingussie High School remains closed today (Thursday) and will remain closed on Friday due to the extent of the flood damage.
The Council’s Service Point at Ruthven Road is also closed today but the intention is to re-open it tomorrow (Friday).
With the closure of Council Offices at Ruthven Road, Council staff are operating from other Council offices in the area and Tala Nan Ros, King Street, has been set up as the Badenoch Emergency Centre.
Individual properties on Spey Street have been sandbagged and Council staff have called at doors to establish what, if any, help is required. No householder from Kingussie has required to be re-housed.
Ross and Cromarty:
Some local trouble spots in Strathpeffer, Alness, Nigg, Tain and Avoch with reports of localised flooding and requests for sandbags. With rain easing, no major problems are anticipated.
